Most pregnancy classes do not offer sessions during the first trimester (the first 12 weeks).
The first trimester is often the most demanding and least supported stage of pregnancy. The body is working hard during this period, so first-trimester classes focus on how to breathe, how to engage the pelvic floor gently, and how to help reset the nervous system.
The second trimester has a different set of needs.
Not only does the back have to handle the excess pressure from long hours of sitting at a desk, but the pelvis must also adjust to an increased load because of the shift in the body’s centre of gravity as the pregnancy progresses.
In the second trimester, classes focus on exercises for hip stability, supporting spinal movement, and using deep breathing techniques developed for urban working women during pregnancy to relieve some of the discomfort experienced while working.
Each class is based on the individual women’s needs, not on a basic movement pattern or a generic exercise routine. The third trimester is a time of preparation, both physically and emotionally.
When you bring together breathwork from our Nurture program and movement dynamics, you can create a greater sense of comfort during labour (i.e., feeling more present and confident in your body during the process).
There are studies that confirm this: women who have learned to use their breath through pre-labour training report having a very different experience during labour than women who have not received any breathing training.
While many prenatal yoga classes place little emphasis on this breathing and movement component, YBN prioritizes it; it is the very foundation from which we begin to grow.
As with all of our programs, prior to your first session, we will have an introductory conversation to gather information about your current trimester, any existing complications your doctor has brought to your attention, how you are currently spending your day, and the specific symptoms you are experiencing (or have experienced) during this time.
If you are a woman in Delhi who is 28 weeks pregnant, has mild SPD, and works a sedentary job, the delivery of our services (the actual sessions) will vary greatly from that for another woman who is also 28 weeks pregnant, has no existing complications, and is active.
We build each session around you as an individual, not around a generic profile of pregnant women in Delhi (or anywhere else).
You can access sessions via secure video call throughout Delhi and the NCR (Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad), scheduled around your work and home commitments.
