The Body Shouldn't Get Generic Advice at This Time
Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga From A Specialist - Available Wherever You Are
Pregnancy affects your body in ways that most yoga classes are not able to address adequately. Throughout pregnancy, relaxin (the hormone responsible for relaxing ligaments) creates more space for your growing baby. As the uterus expands, the diaphragm is pushed upward to create even more room. The pelvic floor adapts to support more weight than ever before. After birth, these changes cannot be reversed overnight. They require individualised, gradual care, and traditional postnatal yoga classes and recovery programs do not always offer that level of specificity. The Nurture program at Yogic By Nature is designed specifically for both stages of the mum-to-be’s journey (prenatal yoga from month 1 to the last month of pregnancy and postnatal recovery). Each session is conducted one-to-one using the intake form completed during the initial session, and the program evolves as you progress through each stage of recovery. All sessions are provided online, allowing women living in any part of the UK, India or any other country to participate in this unique program of support and care.STAGE 1-Prenatal Yoga
The first trimester is about finding breath, managing fatigue, and understanding the pelvis. The second trimester is based on changing centre of gravity, which affects spinal loading and hip joint stability. The third trimester is about preparing the nervous system for labour through specific breath work (i.e., developing capacity to handle discomfort).STAGE 2-Postnatal
The postnatal body requires a sequence (i.e., several classes); not “one class”. The Nurture postnatal pathway begins with connecting to breath and reconnecting with the pelvic floor, as pregnancy and childbirth often disrupt the usual diaphragm–pelvic floor coordination for all women, no matter how they have given birth. Postnatal yoga continues with post-pregnancy body assessment, followed by progressive conditioning tailored to your specific body - not a 6-week generic reconditioning time frame commonly used for all mothers. What You Get In Every Nurture Session
- Trimester-Specific Movement: No fixed sequence - every Nurture session will be suited to your current week of pregnancy or postnatal status.
- Individualised Breathwork: Personalised pranayama techniques for what your nervous system requires.
- One-on-One Sessions Only: No group classes; only working together with your practitioner as per your body, symptoms and at your own pace.
- Pelvic Floor Coordination: Each Nurture Session will involve several body movements with breath-pelvic floor coordination; the area that demands great attention during pre-natal and post-natal periods.
FAQs
Q1: How is prenatal yoga different from the YBN Nurture Program? Prenatal yoga is typically taught as a group class that follows one sequence across multiple levels of pregnancy (from beginning through the third trimester). The Nurture program is designed for you and your baby through a one-on-one individual approach, according to your week of pregnancy and any symptoms you have on any given day. Each Nurture session will offer you different movements, breathing patterns, and pacing from one week to the next. Q2: When can I start the Nurture Program during my pregnancy? You can begin the Nurture program at any time during your pregnancy, as long as you have not been advised by your doctor or midwife to stop exercise. Q3: I had a C-section, can I participate in the postnatal pathway? Yes. You may begin postnatal sessions approximately 6-8 weeks after having a C-section, if you have been given medical clearance to exercise. We will adapt the postnatal pathway in line with the varying aspects of your physical recovery. The Nurture program does not assume that you had a vaginal delivery.Course Info
